Maximum Permit Weight Allowed

Overweight permits are restricted to non-divisible loads, and loads deemed to be impractical to divide. Overweight permits are subject to the following conditions:

• maximum of 500 pounds for each inch width of tire on any wheel or group of wheels;
• maximum of 40,000 pounds on a tandem axle;
• maximum of 22,000 pounds on a single axle;
• the foregoing does not apply when specific highway is under weight restrictions.
